AND YET, IT FLOATS
On April 26th, 2021, after a year in which strange floating aerosol particles have turned the world inside-out, and catalysed transformations that seemed unthinkable, a group of diverse rope artists was invited by Karada House to meet and participate in a live zoom session, tying together to a live soundtrack.
Joining from seven different time zones stretching from Canada all the way to China, and a world that is currently bound in place, rendered immobile, but trying, where possible, to float free, we turned to our rope practice to allow restriction and being bound in place to become something to move, to breathe, to transform, to float, to be as light as air and ultimately to grow from while simultaneously being bound tight.
This project is a group of people working to keep a firm grasp on their own work, their own art, their own lives. To feel some sense of flourishing in a world that seems to offer so much brutal culling; to disappear into a task; to float free.
